Stampede
Life and Dreams
Stampede,
This is a perilous word, and I felt terrible when I heard or read some news about people dying in it.
Usually, when a large number of people or animals run in the same direction, they cause a stampede. Some months ago, 100s people died in UP when a crowd of around 1000 people created a stampede due to someone who called himself a godman. Recently, in south India, a woman died, and her child got severely injured due to a stampede caused during the release of Allu Arjun’s Pushpa 2.
I was shocked by the news, but I thought about how cheap somebody’s life is when society just says sorry about what has happened. However, we cannot change society as we do this with ourselves daily.
Yes, this word is related to our day-to-day life; we experience it every minute, every hour and every day. We kill our thoughts, we kill our dreams, we kill ourselves every day through a stampede. But can we differentiate among our thoughts? We know they have died or vanished from our minds, but do they really go away, or I think we sense their soul is murmuring in our minds.
What was that thought? Was it a positive one or a negative one? It could be something worth keeping and nurturing.
Who cares, right? You are the god of your thoughts, as humans have their gods; thoughts also die as humans die in several stampedes worldwide.
A man is a societal mirror, and when he sees himself in that mirror he talks to himself. I killed my dreams because 1000s of them were trying to become reality; the man again spoke to himself; you killed the thought that made you satisfied, happy, or that gave you solace. But you let it go, as you fool a child in yourself and think it is not a big deal.
But what lies ahead?
The kid whose mother died in a stampede will cry sooner or later when he realises the loss he had suffered or faced; the kid will bend down on his knees and ask God why. Why me? What have I done to you? You took my mother from me.
And
What about the man?
Looking at himself in the mirror, the kid inside the man will ask himself, who is the god of his dreams and thoughts? Why did you do that to yourself? Why did you murder your thoughts and your dreams? Will you always kill them? Who will be responsible for your own life? Society? God? Or is it you?
I killed this thought for a while. Let it be.
